Intersting facts from Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary

in All That's Awesome/Entertainment/Inspirations/Movies/News & Rants

I’ve always been a fan of the Star Wars Visual Dictionaries published by DK books. These art books always do an excellent job of providing additional information that you simply don’t get in the movies. So, it was a pleasant surprise when I saw that Amazon is selling Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary from DK. Like all other DK Star Wars Visual Dictionary books, there is a lot of really interesting and in-depth analysis of every character in the movie along with sets and costumes. Below is a description staright from Amazon:

The definitive guide to the characters, droids, aliens, and creatures of Star Wars: The Force Awakens™. Beautiful photography and clear, authoritative text by Lucasfilm insider Pablo Hidalgo names and explains all the details of costumes, weapons, and accessories. Includes three exclusive, specially commissioned cutaway models produced by Industrial Light & Magic model maker John Goodson.

Some of the most interesting points that the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary reveals includes:

  • Kylo Ren’s lighsabetr has a cude appearance which suggests that it was constructed out of inexperienced hands. This would make sense since he did betray Luke Skywalker so he probably never had a chance to properly learn how to build a lightsaber. This helps explain why his lightsaber looks so raw and unpolished.
  • The stressed cystal on the lightsaber barely contains the power of the weapon. That is why there are lateral plasma vents that become the crossguard quillons. So, the Ren’s lightsaber looks like it does not because he wanted to make it look cool but because he does not know how to make a lightsaber.
  • We know that Luke Skywalker lost Anakin’s lightsaber in battle on the Cloud City but someone slavaged it.
  • Kylo Ren is the most gifted of Supreme Leader Snoke’s aprentices.
