F.lux: Screen Brightness based Time of Day

in Free Stuff

F.lux is a great application for people like myself who stay in front of a computer all day! The application makes the color of your computer’s display adapt to the time of day, warm at night and like sunlight during the day. F.lux adjusts the glow of your monitor (brightness and tint) based on the time of day, dimming your monitor later into the evening and tinting the screen color based on the kind of lighting you use.

When I tried it out, it freaked me out because it made my screen so….. PINK. The warmer, and very pink color took a little getting used to, but it did seem a little easier on the eyes. Now, you may get freaked out the first time you run it and start going hyper-speed through the 24 hour preview! I’m sure it has given someone a seizure!!! But the tool is highly customizable

Now, you may want to disable this tool when you are doing something that requires color managing since it will affect your output colors. But this tool is wonderful for people who strain their eyes all day in front of a computer screen! You can download F.lux here.
